Grant
announcement for 2006
October 20, 2006 -- JONESBORO
The Board of Directors of
the Kays Foundation today announced grants to several
departments and individuals at Arkansas State University,
Jonesboro. The grants for the 2006 calendar year will
support the following programs:
ASU Music Department, Tom O'Connor, Chair
$7,510.00 to purchase stringed instruments for use in music
education classes.
ASU Alumni Association, Beth Smith, Executive
Director $6,000.00 to assist in completion of the exterior
landscaping for the Cooper Alumni Center.
Les Christensen, Director, ASU Bradbury Gallery
and John Salvest, Professor, ASU Art Department $5,000.00.
Matching funds to assist in participation in the Florence
International Biennale of Contemporary Art, Florence, Italy.
Dr. E. T. Hammerand, ASU Department of Computer
Science $1,500.00 to support the BEST (Boosting,
Engineering, Science and Technology) robotics competition
hosted by Arkansas State University to encourage high school
students interest in science, technology, math, and
engineering.
The
Kays Foundation of Jonesboro is a private, non-profit
foundation supporting Arkansas State University. The
Foundation expects to announce additional grants early in
2007.
